Frequently Asked Questions

When may I come to the library?
You may visit the library during a scheduled class, during homeroom, between classes, and after school. To come to the library during the school day, you must have a written pass from a teacher. During Access Period, you may come to the library to check in/out a book or a magazine, or to do research for a class project, provided you have a pass from the teacher assigning the project. On days when there is a class scheduled in the Library during your Access Period, you may work in the Library with the permission of the teacher whose class is in the library at the time.
For how long may I check out a book?
Books may be checked-out for two (2) weeks and you are allowed to check out three (3) books at a time. Provided there are no other students on a waiting list for the book, you may renew your book for two additional weeks. Magazines may be checked out overnight. Reference books circulate only in special circumstances, also on an overnight basis.

What happens if my library book or magazine is late?
A fine of five cents per day is charged for each school day that a regular library book is late. If you have checked out overnight materials that are late, you will be charged twenty-five cents for each day that the overnight material is late. If you have an excused absence on the day your library book or magazine is due, you will not be charged a fine if you return the book/magazine when you come back to school. School activities may be withheld if you have an outstanding library book/debt.

What other supplies are available in the Library?
Pencils and pens may be purchased in the library. Pencils with your favorite sports team and a variety of patterns are available, as are mechanical pencils and pens. Book Sox Brand stretchable book covers are also available for purchase. If you need to print out your project, or to put some last minute finishing touches on a project, we have staplers, colored markers and pencils, and other helpful tools to help you.
Can I take Accelerated Reader Tests in the Library?
Accelerated Reader tests are available on library computers. With a pass from your language arts teacher, you may take a test or print out your record.
