Recreational Swimming Program

It is the purpose of the Keystone Oaks School District to provide for its students and residents a comprehensive program of adquatic activities. This program will include activities designed to improve the swimming ability of its participants, to create a safety conscious public, to promote participation in recreational aquatic activities, and to promote sportsmanship and competition through competitive programs. 
 
The following information pertains to the 2019-2020 Keystone Oaks School District Recreational Swim Program. All residents of the District are invited to participate in the program of aquatic activities. 
 
Any questions pertaining to the program or the operation of the pool should be directed to Mrs. Amy Torcast, Aquatics Director, at torcaso@kosd.org.  
 

Recreational Swimming

  • Open Swim - The pool will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 PM and on Sundays from Noon-2 PM for all residents to swim. 
  • Adult Swim - The pool will be open for adults only on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-8:45 PM and on Sundays from 2-2:45 PM. This time is for adults to enjoy the pool; this is not the time for coaches to work with swimmers. 
  • Dates of Operation - The pool will be open from September 9, 2019 through May 3, 2020. The pool will be closed on all school holidays and activities may be pre-empted for swim meet and other special activities. Please see below for dates that the pool is CLOSED. 

Recreational Swimming Fees

Passes may be purchased at the pool during normal hours of operation. Children under 4' tall and 10 years old must be accompanied by a guardian.

Swim Classes & Lessons

Children's Swim Lessons
Only one sessions of Children's Swim Lessons will be offered this year, with a date to be announced in the winter 2020. Lesson details:
  • Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings for two weeks
  • 6 pm - 7 pm
  • 25 minute sections
  • $35 for 6 lessons
  • Ages 6 and up

Registration: Register by mail only. Applications will be available at the High School Pool starting February 1. You may email Amy Torcaso at torcaso@kosd.org starting February 1, but it must still be mailed in for registration. The number of students admitted to each session will be based on available staffing. Students will be assigned to groups based on age and ability. Parents will be contacted the week before lessons start to verify registration. Parents may not accompany children in the water. 

Loved One & Me Classes 
Classes will be offered in the Spring 2020, with dates to be determined. Lesson details:

  • Fridays
  • 7 pm - 8 pm
  • 25 minutes lessons
  • $25 for 5 lessons
  • Under 6 years old 

Registration: Register by mail only. Applications will be available at the High School Pool starting February 1. You may email Amy Torcaso at torcaso@kosd.org starting February 1, but it must still be mailed in for registration. This is a water acclamation class where fun activities are done in the water, led by a certified Water Safety Instructor. The class is limited to 15 children with parents, who accompany children in the water. If the child is not potty trained, swimmer pants are required. No diapers are permitted. 

Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Please contact Mrs. Torcaso at torcaso@kosd.org after March 1, 2020 for the class information sheet and to receive an application. Class details:

  • $200 registration fee (includes First Aid & CPR for Professionals training)
  • Ages 15 or older who can pass the prerequisites on the first day, including 300 yards continuous swim, 2 minute water tread, an retrieval of object at the bottom of the pool

Water Aerobics Exercise Class
Water Aerobics Classes are offered on Monday and Wednesday nights with Joanne Dressler as the instructor. We will initially offer two sessions, one from 7 PM until 8 PM and a second from 8 PM until 9 PM; if there are not enough registrants, the sessions will be combined. Class size will be limited to 25 per session. The first session will begin in September and run through November 13, 2019. Registration can be completed by email or on the night of the first class. If you would like to pay per class, the fee is $7 cash.  

Pool Rentals

School-sponsored activities have first priority to use the pool. Groups or organizations planning to offer a serious program will be given second consideration. Private individuals may also rent the pool for parties and gatherings, if the time is available. Lifeguards and supervisory personnel will be provided by the District for pool rentals. Availability is limited.

Directions to the Pool

If entering from Kelton or Eastmont Avenues, turn right into the parking lot. Continue through the lot to the "T" with the basketball and tennis courts in front of you. Make a left. At the stop sign with the High School Track in front of you, turn right and the parking is on the right. The pool is located in the building with ground level entrances A1 and A3. 
 
If entering from McNeilly Road, continue along the edge of the parking lot along the hillside. Make a right to continue behind the Middle School. After stopping at the stop sign beside the basketball court, continue to the second stop sign with the High School Track in front of you. Turn right and the parking is on the right. The pool is located in the building with ground level entrances A1 and A3.
