Throughout the school year, twelve Keystone Oaks High School prepared projects for the 2024 DataJam, an academic competition sponsored by Pittsburgh Dataworks that focuses on teaching about the use of big data to answer a research question. Students completed their project as part of an independent study under the direction of KOHS math and computer science teacher Kevin Gallagher.
This year’s projects were:
- Major Moola: Navigating Degrees and Dollar Signs, completed by Tina Tran and Naudia Booker
- In-Tuition: Examining the Factors of College Cost in PA, completed by Lia Scott, Alisha Thapa, Sierra D’Eramo, Madison Williams-Powell, Lael Nowlin, Katherine Cesario, and Anthony Cerminara
- Cleaning the Air: Identifying Key Factors in Pollution Levels, completed by Alison Leung, Salaha Suleyman, and Madeline McDine
The students presented their projects during a virtual DataJam Finale on Thursday. Congratulations to Tina Tran and Naudia Booker's whose project, Major Moolah, won a Fan Favorite Award during a live voting portion of the DataJam Finale!
