Athletic Awards, Recognitions & Milestones: The 2021-2022 School Year in Review

Fall Athlete & Team Accomplishments
Keystone Oaks’ fall sports teams and athletes competed in several WPIAL events, earning both individual and team honors.

  • Varsity Girls Soccer
    • The team competed in the first round the Section AA WPIAL Playoffs, losing to Shady Side Academy. 
    • Players Makenaa Sansotta, Anika Loper and Kiera Hathaway were named to the AA All WPIAL Team.

    • Hannah Charlton & Mia McCaffery were named Players of the Week.

    • Julia Piatt competed in the WPIAL Singles and Doubles events. 
    • Polia Vladeva competed in the WPIAL Singles and Doubles events.
    • Jordan Skaris competed in the WPIAL Doubles event.
    • Julia Samarin competed in the WPIAL Doubles event.

      Varsity Girls Tennis
  • Varsity Golf
    • The Varsity Golf Team earned fifth place in the WPIAL Team Golf event, shooting a score of 460. The following individuals competed on the team: Ben Mathie, Tyler Pillar, Ty Serakowski, Greg Wagner, Ethan McGrath, and Eion Tieran. 
    • Tyler Serakowski competed in the WPIAL AA Golf Individuals.

  • Varsity Boys Soccer
    • The team competed in the first round of the Section AA WPIAL Playoffs, losing to Charleroi. 
    • The following athletes were named to the AA All WPIAL Team: Maddox Fingers, Trevor Shuetz and Cy Garcia.

    • The team advanced to the WPIAL AA Playoffs, where they won against South Allegheny in the first round and lost against North Catholic in the second round. 
    • The following team members were named to the WPIAL AA 1st Team: Luke White (OL), Kevin Drew (RB), Tyler Perry (LB).
    • The following team members were named to the WPIAL AA 2nd Team: Owen Minfod (WR), Quinn Kenny (WR), Christian Flaherty (OL), Nick Buckley (QB), Ryan Healy (FB), Luke White (DL), Kevin Drew (DL), Benecio DeFalco (DB).
    • The following team members received a WPIAL AA Team Honorable Mention: Alex Samarin (TE), Greg Wagner (K), and Ryan Thamert (P).

Winter Athlete & Team Accomplishments
  • Varsity Wrestling
    • Quinn Garda took 8th place in the WPIAL AA Individual Wrestling Championships, qualifying for the PIAA AA Southwest Wrestling Championships.
    • Christian Flaherty took 5th place in the WPIAL AA Individual Wrestling Championships, qualifying for the PIAA AA Southwest Wrestling Championships.

  • Varsity Boys Basketball
    • Senior basketball player Owen Minford scored his 1,000th point during the 2021-2022 basketball season.

  • Girls Varsity Basketball
    • The team advanced to the WPIAL 3A playoffs, winning against Brownsville in the first round and losing to Freedom in the second round. 
    • The team earned a spot to compete in the 3A Playoffs.

  • Varsity Swimming & Diving
    • The Varsity Boys Swim Team earned the title of Section Champions for the first time in 38 years.
    • Swimmer Trent Ladner qualified for the WPIAL AA 50 Free and 100 Free events.
    • Swimmer Emerson Hamilton qualified for the WPIAL AA 50 Free and 100 Free events.
    • Trent Ladner set a school record in the 100 Free event with a time of 49.96 seconds.
      Varsity Swimming & Diving
  • Varsity Hockey - Bishop Canevin Crusaders Co-Op
    • Team goalie Adam Serakowski was named to PA Hockey's Statewide Top 25 Player Rankings for the 2021-2022 season.
    • The team qualified for the Division 2 PIAA Playoffs, where they won against Morgantown in the first round, beat Wilmington in the semifinal round, and lost against Neshannock in the championship game.

Spring Athlete & Team Accomplishments
  • Varsity Baseball
    • The Varsity Baseball Team qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs, where they played Mohawk in the first round. 
    • Team members Ethan Parker and Aiden Schroeder were named to the 3A Section 2 All Section.

  • Varsity Softball
    • The Varsity Softball Team qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs, where they beat Valley in the first round and fell to South Allegheny in round two. 
    • Team members Gianna Woods and Julia Piatt were named to the 3A Section 2 All Section.

  • Varsity Boys Volleyball
    • The Varsity Boys Volleyball Team qualified for the WPIAL Playoffs, where they fell to Gateway in the first round. 
    • Athletes Maddox Fingers, Cy Spivak and Tyler Feeney were named to the second team All Section 3AA. Athlete Kyle Le received an Honorable Mention.

  • Varsity Boys Tennis
    • Athletes Quinn Kenny and Hayden Kenny competed in the WPIAL Singles Tournament. 
    • Doubles Quinn Kenny and Hayden Kenny and Doubles Zach Pollice and Benecio DeFalco competed in the WPIAL Doubles Tournament.
      Varsity Boys Volleyball
  • Varsity Track & Field
    • Athlete Dom Pellarin competed in the WPIAL Individual 110 Hurdles and 300 Hurdles events, earning fourth place in both events. He qualified to compete at the PIAA state championships in these events. 
    • Athlete Sydney Taylor competed in the WPIAL Individual Triple Jump event.

In addition to team and individual accomplishments, nine Class of 2022 graduates committed to playing sports at the
collegiate level.
