Good Afternoon Keystone Oaks Families,
The Keystone Oaks School District’s Administrative Team has been working diligently over the past several months to prepare for the 2020-2021 school year. As we have communicated previously, during the 2020-2021 school year the District will be providing every student, Kindergarten through twelfth grade, with a Chromebook device to access course materials, complete course work, and participate in online instruction.
We are reaching out this afternoon because the District recently received an update regarding the delivery status of the Keystone Oaks School District’s Chromebook order that will impact our ability to provide every student in grades K-8 with a brand new device to start the 2020-2021 school year. Our supplier, Lenovo, is experiencing delivery delays because one of the companies that is used to manufacture Chromebooks was placed on the United States Department of Commerce’s “Entity List,” meaning that products manufactured by that company cannot be shipped to the United States; we’ve provided the full explanation on our website. We are not the only school district experiencing this delayed delivery and we anticipate that our full order will not be fulfilled for at least a few weeks after the start of the school year.
As a result, we are asking families to fill out the form below to let us know if your student has a personal device that they can use to start the school year or if they need to borrow a device from the District. We are asking that everyone fill out the form.
Please fill out this form by 5 p.m. on Friday, August 21:
A few important notes:
- All students in grades 9-12 will receive a Chromebook device as part of the High School’s 1:1 Chromebook Initiative. You will be receiving communication next week with details on when to pick up your device.
- Please fill out a survey for each student in your household in Kindergarten through 8th grade, even if your student does not need to borrow a device. Each student will need to have their own device in order to participate in classes throughout the day.
- If students have access to a personal desktop computer (Windows or Mac operating system), laptop computer (Windows or Mac operating system), or a Chromebook, those devices are compatible with the programs that will be used by classroom teachers.
- Tablets and mobile devices are not compatible and will not work for school work. Please fill out the form to borrow a device if your student only has access to a tablet or mobile device.
You will receive communication by the end of next week with details on how to pick up a device and other materials.
In advance, thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
