Lady Eagles soccer look to execute a winning season
The Keystone Oaks Lady Eagles soccer team look to have a successful season with the help of some veteran upperclassmen and a skillful freshman class
Led by four-year coach Danielle Kandrack and first-time assistant Emily Doyle, the Golden Eagles are more than prepared for the season ahead. The season started with two weeks of grueling practice three times a day, followed by many hours of team bonding. Coach Kandrack expressed how much of an impact the freshman class will have.
“They bring a skill set we have been needing, including goal scoring and aggressive defensive play,” said Kandrack.
Freshman Sydney Stahl looks to push the Eagles to their overall end goal of a winning season, even as a younger asset.
“There is always pressure as an underclassmen playing on varsity. However, I am comfortable enough with my teammates to know that if I crack under the pressure or mess up, they will be there. It's comforting to have that support,” said Stahl.
Kandrack agrees with Stahl’s potential.
“Sydney has the goal scoring potential this team has been looking for,” said Kandrack.
Sydney expects to help her team win games however she can, hopefully, scoring some goals along the way. Another huge asset to the Golden Eagles roster is Sophomore Sierra Le Donne. College and professional soccer hopeful Le Donne led her team in goals last year as a defender, and will possibly play a more offensive role this year. An offseason injury has sidelined Le Donne since July, but she is ready to comeback stronger than ever.
“My personal goal for this season is to score more than four goals, passing last year’s total,” said Le Donne.
Leading Keystone Oaks to hopefully a successful season are captains Junior Mira Stump and Senior Olivia Stumpo.
“We’re one of the youngest teams in our section but we expect a lot out of the girls, we have the skills we just have to apply it,” said Stump and Stumpo.
Coach Doyle agreed with the girls.
“They’ve planned this out to be our season. They sent a serious message at the beginning of the year. A lot of pressure has been put on our team this year,” said the captains.
The Lady Eagles have heart and the talent they need to be victorious, with a tough schedule ahead of them, we’ll see what happens.
