High School Teacher Selected for Computer Science Principles Professional Learning Program

Kevin Gallagher

Keystone Oaks High School teacher Kevin Gallagher has been selected to participate in Code.org’s Computer Science Principles Professional Learning Program, designed for high school teachers who will be instructing the Computer Science Principals Course. Keystone Oaks will offer Introduction to Computer Science and AP Computer Science Principles beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.

Mr. Gallagher will participate in a five-day, hands-on intensive summer workshop at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit in August and will also attend ongoing professional development workshops through the 2017-2018 school year.

Participants will explore the curriculum and Code.org’s suite of tools, consider and experiment with specific classroom management and teaching strategies, and learn about the College Board’s requirements for the AP Course.

In addition to preparing Mr. Gallagher to instruct the computer science course, the Professional Learning Program will also give him the opportunity to network with a nationwide community of educators working to change the face of computer science education.
