Elementary Students Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday, Read Across America Week
Elementary Students Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday, Read Across America WeekStudents in all three District elementary schools took part in "Read Across America Week" and celebrated Dr. Seuss' Birthday March 2nd. 

Aiken Elementary
KO Superintendent Dr. Stropkaj was invited to Aiken Elementary to read to first and second grade students, who chose "You Can't Read with Your Eyes Shut" and "The Cat in the Hat."

Guidance Counselor Craig Lawhead read his personal favorite Dr. Seuss book "Wacky Wednesday" to kindergarten students.

Dormont Elementary
Students at Dormont Elementary participated in the school's annual Book Swap. Students brought in books from home and traded for "new" books to add to their collection. Click here for photos of kindergarten and first grade students, who students were excited to find some of their favorite stories, like "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" as well as books from their favorite collections, including the Bernstein Bears and Curious George.

Also at Dormont Elementary, students in second grade were treated to a few guest readers, including KO Superintendent Dr. Stropkaj. Click here for photos.

Myrtle Elementary
Myrtle Elementary students participated in a number of reading activities. Last week, Dr. Stropkaj read "Fox in Socks" and "The Cat in the Hat" to second grade students.

First grade students partnered up to read their favorite Dr. Seuss books. Second grade students read books to Kindergartners, who in turn, read "Green Eggs and Ham" as a class to second grade.
