Elementary schools moving to common arrival and dismissal schedule

As we prepare for the start of the 2022-2023 school year, please see below for important information regarding changes to the start times at the District’s three elementary schools for the 2022-2023 school year.

These changes were made in order to provide elementary teachers across the District with a common schedule, both for meetings and professional development, as well as for special-area teachers who travel between one or more school buildings to teach art, music, library, STEM, and physical education classes. These time changes also will allow for afternoon transportation to run more smoothly, returning students home in a timely manner.

The following daily schedule is in effect at Aiken, Dormont and Myrtle Avenue Elementary Schools for the 2022-2023 school year:

  • 8:30 a.m.: Doors open for students
  • 8:30 - 8:45 a.m.: Student arrival / breakfast
  • 8:45 a.m.: Homeroom begins
  • 8:55 a.m.: Tardy time
  • 9 a.m.: First class begins
  • 3:35 p.m.: Dismissal

We realize that this change may impact your family’s schedule. Before and after school care is available at all three elementary schools through Extended Day Services, a private company.  Information about their programs is available on their website - https://www.extendedday.com/keystone-oaks
