Educational Plan for Online Learning Days

With the winter months upon us, we wanted to send communication to you in regards to the Keystone Oaks School District’s educational plan for the 2021-2022 school year, should winter weather or other emergencies impact the District’s ability to provide in-person instruction.

This year, the Keystone Oaks School District is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to use Online Learning Days as a day of school when school buildings would normally be closed due to weather conditions and other circumstances. Also when there would normally be a two-hour delay, the District may also use a full-day of online learning as well. An Online Learning Day does not need to be made up as a traditional school cancellation would and this will allow the District to maintain its 2021-2022 Academic Year Calendar

Here are a few important reminders for Online Learning Days:

  • The District will communicate an Online Learning Day via SchoolMessenger (email, text and phone call), its website, social media, and local news stations KDKA, WTAE and WPXI.

  • Students are expected to log on to Google Meet at the start of their regular school day. Keystone Oaks will not utilize a delay schedule; classes will begin at the regular start time. Students will receive instructions from their teacher(s) on how to access Google Meet for their classes.

  • Students and staff should bring their Chromebook and any necessary materials home each night and back to school the following day.

If you have any questions, please contact your child’s building principal directly.
