Keystone Oaks senior qualifies as a National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced that Keystone Oaks senior Ethan VonHedemann has qualified as a Semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. He qualified as a Semifinalist based on his outstanding score on the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and is one of 16,000 Semifinalists from nearly 1.5 million entrants throughout the United States.

Ethan is an active participant in several clubs and activities at Keystone Oaks High School, including Math Club, Spanish Club, and National Honor Society. He served as the Junior Class President and competed in the 2020 National FBLA Competition, after earning fourth place at the state competition. Ethan also plays the violin, holds a part-time job, and has earned more than 200 hours of community service by volunteering with his church to turn sermons into podcasts.

As a Semifinalist, Ethan will have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring.
