Keystone Oaks to Continue Online Learning Through December 11

Good Evening Keystone Oaks Students, Staff and Families,

We hope that this email finds you safe and healthy. As we’ve previously communicated, the Keystone Oaks School District was planning to resume Option #1: In-Person Hybrid Learning on Monday, December 7, 2020. However, due to the number of cases that have been reported to the District this week, as well as the continued large number of cases throughout Allegheny County and in the local community, the District has made the decision to continue with online synchronous learning at least through Friday, December 11, 2020.

This means that students in Option #1: In-Person Hybrid Learning and Option #2: Online Synchronous Learning will continue to participate in their classes via Google Meet. Students in Option #3: Keystone Oaks Cyber Academy will continue to participate in their classes via the Edgenuity or Pearson platforms.

As a District, we know and understand that online learning presents many challenges for students and families. However, our top priority has always been the health and safety of our students and staff and, at this time, continuing with online learning is the safest option.

Please visit the Allegheny County Health Department’s website for more information about COVID-19. You may also utilize Allegheny County’s 2-1-1 resource hotline for general questions about COVID. Please continue to notify your school nurse, Mrs. Suzanne Lochie ([email protected]) and Mrs. Sarah Welch ([email protected]) if you or your child tests positive for COVID-19, is presumed positive for the virus, or is a close contact of a positive individual.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,

William P. Stropkaj, Ed.D.

Superintendent

Keystone Oaks School District
