Keystone Oaks girls volleyball season half way through
Keystone Oaks Girls Volleyball have started the 2018 season very well.  After a first-round exit in 2017, the Golden Eagles are looking to improve off last season’s success.
The Golden Eagles are currently 7-4 throughout the 2018 season, they also beat a very good Carlynton team. They hope to keep improving off their success in the early season. Senior Captain Nicole Detorakis, thinks that the team will only improve throughout the rest of the season.
“Staying focused and not being hard on ourselves. The team as whole struggles to keep our heads up after we make bad plays.”
She also embraces being a captain; it helps her to be able to lead the team day in and day out.
“I really like being able to be the voice for the team. I always able to push them to be better athletes but also better people.”
Nicole also has had a lot of experience.  She played on the AAU level.
“I started playing volleyball in 7th grade, that’s also when I started playing travel with Pittsburgh Three Rivers Club.”
Junior Erin Feeney and Nicole both agree, that the song called, “Baby Shark.” created by Pinkfong! Kids’ Songs and Stories hypes them up before a game.
“We all do the baby shark dance together,” Feeney stated.
Feeney also hopes the team will make the playoffs.
“Playoffs are very exciting games, it would also be nice to leave our mark on KO volleyball for years to come.”
The Girls Volleyball team has five games left this season, the team has to win 2 out of 5 to make the playoffs. They hope to be able to make a deep run in the WPIAL playoffs.
