Technology students tour famous Fallingwater house
On November 10th students participated in the Fallingwater field trip. The trip was offered to students in advanced technology education, woodshop, and CADD. They have been going on the trip for the past eight years.
Following what they have been working on during class, the students learned about the architecture of the home and the natural resources used to build it. The day began with a long bus ride to the home. There, they met their tour guide who would lead them through the house. They spent about an hour touring the home and learning about its unique structure.
“Each year when I walk through the house always look for details in the house that I haven’t noticed before. My favorite part of the house is probably the living room. I really like the open space,” said Mr. Sarchet, the advanced technology teacher.
The students needed passing grades and an interest in Frank Lloyd Wright and his architecture to be qualified to go on the trip. A lot of the kids most likely wouldn’t be able to experience this type of architecture unless it’s through the school.
“I would definitely go back again to visit the house, the house and the views were breathtaking. It was a great experience and I’m glad I got to partake in the trip,” said freshman Sydney Stahl.
“The home was beautiful and the way the home was built was different from anything I’ve ever seen. I would go back if I ever had the chance again,” agreed Jameson Bogdan.
The students got to experience something different from what they ever have. They got to see a different structure than they would anywhere else. They learned how the house was built and the benefits to the land around it.
