Corey O’Connor speaks at Keystone Oaks
On November 10th, 2017, in middle school LGI room, Corey O’Connor talked to some high school students about politics, entrepreneurship, internship opportunities and upcoming things happening in the city of Pittsburgh. 
O’Connor is now in his second four-year term, and before being a councilman, he was a Community Development Representative for U.S. Representative Mike Doyle in the Congressman’s Pittsburgh District Office.  
 
O’Connor discussed as a Central Catholic graduate, as well as Duquesne University graduate, earning his bachelor’s degree in elementary education. And while at a golfing event, he was offered a job at the Congressman’s Pittsburgh District Office. 
 
He also talked about Amazon coming to PIttsburgh and why Pittsburgh is a good place for a headquarters. Amazon is looking at Pittsburgh because of the bridges which provide lots of transportation, and because of the location. If Amazon comes here It would bring thousands of jobs.
O’Connor also talked about internships available in his office, and what interns could do. O’Connor also said that it is not an office job, he does a lot more than the students ever thought. In order to get his job, O’Connor had to go door knocking, basically selling himself to the people of Pittsburgh, and since his father was a beloved mayor, O’Connor had some knowledge of politics.
