Board of School Directors approves 2019-2020 Final Budget
Keystone Oaks School District’s Board of School Directors approved the District’s 2019-2020 Final Budget during their Business/Legislative Meeting on Tuesday, June 18, 2019. The Final Budget, with expenditures totaling $43,951,447, allows Keystone Oaks to implement a new middle school strings program and purchase new text books for Middle School social studies and High School science courses.

Keystone Oaks’ spending plan for next school contains a .193 mill increase to 19.499 mills. The millage rate, which is within the District’s Act 1 index, will increase property tax bills $19.30 annually for a home valued at $100,000. This year’s tax increase is to offset the revenue shortfall due to a reduction in property value for a large commercial property in the District.

A median home in the Keystone Oaks School District, valued at $114,000, will pay a property tax bill of approximately $2,222 before any exemptions.

Among the items included in the budget are:
  • $142,000 to purchase 150 new laptops for teachers
  • $64,000 for new Middle School social studies text books
  • $34,000 to purchase new text books for chemistry, physical science, forensic science, and human anatomy classes at the High School

The largest increase in the budget is in salaries and benefits, with the District anticipating an increase of more than $400,000 to PSERS, the state employee retirement system.
