KO Board of School Directors Approves Proposed Final Budget

Keystone Oaks School District’s Board of School Directors approved the District’s 2020-2021 Proposed Final Budget during a Special Voting Meeting on Tuesday, May 12. 

The Proposed Final Budget includes a deficit of more than $2.1 million, due to an anticipated four to five percent reduction in revenues as a result of the impacts of COVID-19 on the economy. This estimated reduction in revenues is based on predictions by the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials and other state agencies. In addition to a reduction in local revenues, state and federal sources of revenue are also uncertain at this time. 

The Proposed Final Budget does not include a tax increase, maintains current programs, and provides the funding necessary for a 1:1 Chromebook initiative at Keystone Oaks High School for the 2020-2021 academic year. 

“It goes without saying that this school year has been unexpectedly difficult for everyone and those challenges have extended into budget planning for the 2020-2021 academic year,” said William P. Stropkaj, Ed.D., Keystone Oaks Superintendent. “District administrators and the Board of School Directors will continue to work diligently over the next month to review the budget and decrease expenditures where possible. Our goal is to adopt a budget that minimizes any negative impacts on taxpayers, employees and, most importantly, students,” he added.

The Keystone Oaks Board of School Directors will adopt the 2020-2021 Final Budget at its Business/Legislative Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room at Central Administration.
