Keystone Oaks releases 2020-2021 School Reopening Plan
On July 14, 2020, the Keystone Oaks Board of School Directors approved the District’s Health & Safety Plan, which is required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and details the health and safety measures that will be in place on school buses, throughout the buildings, and in classrooms when in-person instruction resumes.

The Health & Safety Plan was completed with input from the Recovery Team and is based on recommendations and guidelines from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Allegheny County Health Department, and other national, state, and local education and health organizations.

As school districts are continually receiving new guidance and recommendations, the Health & Safety Plan is subject to change at any time. The full document is available on the District's website. Key details are available in the Keystone Oaks School District 2020-2021 School Reopening Plan, which is also availalbe for download on the 2020-2021 School Reopening Plan webpage

Once you have read through the documents, we ask that you please complete the Return to School Preference Form by Friday, July 24, 2020. You should complete one form for each child in your family, based on which building they will be attending in the fall. Completing this form will allow the District to make the schedule adjustments and building modifications necessary to effectively implement the Health & Safety Plan. Please use these links to access the Return to School Preference Form:

Keystone Oaks School District will offer students three educational options to start the 2020-2021 school year. These options include:

  • Option #1: In-Person Instruction, with students being present in buildings between two and five days per week and participating in live synchronous instruction on days when students are not in the building (please see below).
  • Option #2: Live Online, Synchronous Instruction, with students participating in a full schedule by participating in their classes live via Google Meet.
  • Option #3: Keystone Oaks Cyber Academy, in partnership with Waterfront Learning. Students participate in learning asynchronously (classes are not held live), with classes overseen by Keystone Oaks teachers. Please click here for more information.

The Keystone Oaks School District is exploring the option of dividing students who choose in-person instruction into an A Day and a B Day schedule, in order to further limit the number of students who are physically present in the building on a given day. Additional details regarding this delivery method are outlined in the Keystone Oaks 2020-2021 School Reopening Plan

At this time, the Keystone Oaks School District is awaiting further guidance from county and state health officials to determine when a student or staff member should be quarantined, isolated, excluded from school, and permitted to return after exposure or potential exposure to COVID-19. Once we have more information as to how those decisions will be made in a school setting, we will share that information with staff and families.

Because a building or district-wide closure can occur at any time, the Keystone Oaks 2020-2021 School Reopening Plan also provides an overview of how Keystone Oaks will continue to provide instruction should we need to begin the year with online learning or transition to online learning at any point during the school year.

The District will provide updates as they become available.
