Footloose cuts loose
Students involved in the musical at Keystone Oaks High School set very high standards when they chose to perform the well-known musical Footloose. Before seeing the performance, all I could picture was the cast and lines from the popular 1984 film, but throughout the entire performance I was blown away.
Unlike past years, this musical had very well-known songs, such as “I Need a Hero,” which in my opinion added to the experience because many directors do not incorporate popular songs that most teens know. Not only were the music choices amazing, but the set and costumes were perfect for Footloose. You could really tell that a lot of time and thought was put into creating every little aspect.
The best part of the musical was you could tell right away the entire cast and crew were so passionate and in love with what they were doing. The female lead, Emily Gample, who earned the role of Ariel Moore had this to say about the performance.
“Thursday at the faculty and staff performance, we all performed the best we ever had just because of everything that was going on with the possibility of the teachers striking. We just really wanted the show to be perfect for Mr. Hallam and all the other teachers to show them how hard we worked and that we deserved to be able to perform all weekend.”
Overall, there was not a single aspect of the musical that I have a negative comment about, it was honestly a perfect performance and many others who saw this year's performance agree.
