The KOHS library: a sanctuary for learning
The library, recently considered “the perfect sanctuary for learning” by a passerby, is always available to students searching for a quiet environment full of knowledge.
The Keystone Oaks High School Library, run by Mrs. Longo, offers many things for the academic student. If you’re looking for a peaceful place to study, the library hosts a silent study hall from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. It is equipped with multiple computers that are perfect for taking A.R. tests and research for classes. Research instruction is also available to classes working on extensive research projects that require computer and text resources.
Of course, a library would be nothing without books, and Longo has them all. With about 200 new titles added just this year, there is bound to be something that will peak your interest. Among these new titles is American Sniper by Chris Kyle, which was a highly suggested purchase last year by KOHS students. The most popular titles this year include not only American Sniper, but The Maze Runner series by James Dashner, Sports Books for Boys by Feinstein and Dooker, and the “ever popular, Nicholas Sparks books” according to Longo. If you’re looking for something good to read, perhaps try one of the librarian’s favorites, such as East of Eden by John Steinbeck, or any of the Stieg Larsson books from the series The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
The Library has so much to offer and students are always welcome. Just remember to have a hall pass when you come to visit, or there will be no admittance without one. If you love books, need a computer, or simply a quiet place to study, then the library is the place for you. So, grab a pass and come on in, your learning experience awaits.
