Hello there Super Awesome Dormont Families and Faculty,
It’s your friendly neighborhood principal, Mr. Werner, reaching out to let you know how things are going here at Dormont. I hope everyone out there in Dormontland had a wonderful and relaxing holiday break… and are recharged for 2021. Personally, I spent a lot of time in sweatpants and sweatshirt, binge watching shows like The Mandelorian, movies like The Pirates of the Caribbean series, and holiday classics like A Christmas Story and Die Hard. ??
Here are a few pieces of information that I thought might be of interest to you:
RETURN TO HYBRID LEARNING: As a reminder, Keystone Oaks will resume in-person hybrid instruction on Monday, January 11, 2021. For the remaining three weeks in January and only these three weeks, Cohort Eagle students will attend classes early in the week and Cohort Golden students will attend classes later in the week. At this time, Keystone Oaks is planning to return to the regular in-person hybrid schedule on Monday, February 1, 2021. Remember: Cohort Eagles students will return on Monday, January 11, 2021. Cohort Golden students will return on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
MATERIAL DISTRIBUTION DAY: It was great seeing our families during this week’s Distribution Day. If you missed it, not to fret. Give Mrs. Wareham a call, and let us know when you might be able to stop by to pick it up. Cohort Eagles students, if you have materials here, you can pick them up on Monday, January 11th.
UGLY SWEATER DAY: We usually have an Ugly Sweater Day at Dormont Elementary before our winter break. However, this year we weren’t able to have it. Not to worry: DORMONT UGLY SWEATER DAYS will be Wednesday, January 20, 2021 and Friday, January 22, 2021. Eagle students will wear theirs on 1/20/21, and Golden students will wear theirs on 1/22/21. Synchronous and KOCA students can choose which day they’d like to participate.
PRINCIPAL’S PB CLUB: Our Virtual Gameboard for our Principal’s PBC (Positive Behavior Club) is up and running… and we are well on our way of earning our next building-wide incentive. We just started Game 5. Why you ask?? Because… we had another winning row of students! The following students will receive a free small blizzard from Dairy Queen on McFarland: Makenna S., Sofia T., Dehlia D., Allie K., Phoebe A., Danni C., Rychein D., Leo D., Eli M., and Sebastijan G.
REMINDER OF UPCOMING SCHOOL CLOSURES: Students will not be in school on January 18, 2021 or January 29, 20201.
OUTDOOR RECESS: Just a reminder: We will continue to capitalize on the dry(ish) days. Please be sure to have your child wear weather-appropriate clothes, including winter coats, gloves, etc. during the winter months, as we will try to have outdoor recess as much as the weather allows. Even if it is only on the blacktop, it will be wonderful having the children outside for some fresh air and movement before lunch.
