The boys tennis team gets into the swing of things with new coach

KO Varsity Boys Tennis Team

Having the opportunity, I was able to visit the K.O’s boys tennis team during their practice. After pre-practice warm-ups, Coach Leia Leipold was able to speak with me about her views on the upcoming season.
“I see a lot of players out there with a great deal of ability and motivation,” she stated as we talked about the new players she has recruited. The team this year has only 3-4 returning players, and the rest were fairly new to tennis. Interestingly, these new players participated in other K.O sports as well, such as the basketball and football teams before joining tennis. Coach Leipold expressed a great deal of hope for her team this season and was extremely excited to get back to coaching tennis
Before arriving here at K.O., Coach Leipold has 29 years of coaching experience behind her. She coached at Baldwin for 23 years before moving to Winchester, where she not only coached a girls team, but started a boys team from the ground up, as well. From there, she took a five-year break before joining K.O.
“When I played at Baldwin and Wincheste,r we always played against K.O. I respected the team.”
With their new coach, the team has high hopes and big expectations for this year. So I urge you to go out and support K.O’s boys tennis team this season, and I assure you, you will not be disappointed!
