About the 1:1 Chromebook Initiative

To start the 2020-2021 school year, the Keystone Oaks School District will be implementing a 1:1 Chromebook Program at both Keystone Oaks Middle School and Keystone Oaks High School. This means that every student will receive a Chromebook device that they will keep with them for the entire school year and can use both during school and at home. We are very excited about this initiative and the opportunities that we will now have to personalize learning through the enhanced use of technology. Please see below for more details regarding the program.

Chromebook Handbook for Students & Guardians

Every Middle & High School student and their parent/guardian must agree to abide by the rules and guidelines outlined in the Chromebook Program Handbook. You can sign off on the Chromebook Program Handbook when you purchase the protection plan or forms will be available when devices are distributed in August. You can view the Chromebook Program Handbook by clicking here.

One2One Device Protection

The Keystone Oaks School District is partnering with One2One Risk Solutions to provide accident and loss protection for student Chromebook Devices. By registering with One2One and purchasing a damage waiver, your student will be protected from the full cost to repair or replace a device. While purchasing device protection is not mandatory, it is highly recommended as the cost to replace a new Chromebook is $335.

The cost to purchase the Protection Plan is $20 per student device. The deductibles are as follows:
  • First Incident - $0
  • Second Incident - $10
  • Third Incident - $25
  • Lost or stolen device - $100

If you choose to not participate in the program, a parent or guardian will be responsible for the full cost of the device, which is $335.

Chromebook Program FAQs

I don't want the device insurance, do I still have to do something?
Yes, even if you do not want the device insurance you must still login and waive the insurance or your student will not be given a device.  This can be done when you reach the screen below during the enrollment process.

What does paying $20 cover?
The $20 enrollment fee covers any repairs to your device unless it is deemed a total loss.  The deductibles are as follows:
  • First Incident - $0
  • Second Incident - $10
  • Third Incident - $25
  • Lost, stolen device, or deemed total loss - $100
What constitutes a total loss?
When the cost to repair a device is  greater than the total cost of the device.  It is considered a total loss.  If you have waived the insurance and the device is deemed a total loss, lost, or stolen the total cost for the device is $335

If you purchase insurance and the device is lost, stolen, or deemed a total loss the total cost to replace the device is $100

I bought insurance and my child broke their Chromebook, what should I do?
Have your child bring the Chromebook to school.  Their classroom teacher, building secretary, or principal will contact the technology department.  If the Chromebook needs a repair, the KO Tech Team will file a claim. You will receive an email and must approve this claim in order for the device to be repaired and returned to your child.

What dates does this insurance cover?
The insurance begins at the date of purchase. Insurance must be purchased yearly.
