Keystone Oaks Superintendent Welcomes Elementary School Students, Families to the 2017-18 School Year
Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is my pleasure to welcome your sons and daughters back to a new school year. As the elementary students prepare for the start of a new school year, principals, teachers, and other staff members are preparing for exciting and engaging educational opportunities for them.

Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade bring to school an endless amount of energy, creativity, and millions of questions. Those contributions make for a very rich learning environment. Our elementary program is focused on addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of every child and in helping every child build a foundation for life-long learning by providing them with the basic knowledge and skills they will need to be successful.

Last school year, we saw the implementation of the elementary STEAM program. Students in Kindergarten through fifth grade had the opportunity, once in a six-day rotation, to create, explore, problem-solve, collaborate, and engage in activities that may have taken them out of their comfort zone by thinking out-of-the box. Many students expressed their enjoyment in this class and could not wait for the next class time. I am happy to report that these experiences will once again be provided to our students during this upcoming school year.

The STEAM program has added to the well-rounded curriculum that we provide to our elementary students. In the Keystone Oaks School District, we realize that while the academics are extremely important, courses such as STEAM, Music, Art, Physical Education, and Library are just as important in building a strong educational foundation in every child.

I encourage parents to become involved in the elementary schools and to support the various programs and events that take place throughout the year. Our schools are places where students and adults (faculty, staff, parents, and community members) need to come together to learn together and be good role models for our students. I encourage you to be as involved as you can and as your other commitments will allow. Your involvement will make a difference in your child, your family, and your school.

I look forward to an excellent year, one that provides your child with an excellent education. My best wishes for a successful school year that will provide the best opportunities for your child to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Together, we are building a foundation of excellence.

Sincerely,

William P. Stropkaj, Ed.D
