Ghosts and goblins take over KO
Boo! That's usually what you hear when Halloween is right around the corner. As for the Best Friends Club here at Keystone Oaks, they've got a good Halloween treat. The Best Friends Club is a club supporting special needs students by planning activities, such as sports or dances. This year, on Friday, October the 30th, the Best Friends Club threw a Halloween party/dance for all the special needs students here at KOHS.
To make this a"spook-tacular" event, all the students attending got to wear their Halloween costumes, eat some good snacks, and dance to their heart’s desire in the high school gym.
"We like to do this because most of the special needs kids don't go to Homecoming or most other dances," Vice President Courtney Brown stated. "They deserve to have as much fun as anybody."
As a bonus, several other schools, 20 in fact, from around the area, including Baldwin, were invited to attend this "monster-ous" event, giving a more sociable atmosphere to all the attendees.
As for the students attending, they seemed to be the most thrilled.
"I'm so ready," said senior Jordan Ault. "I'm dressing up as Gene Simmons [from Kiss] and everything."
Not only does the Best Friends Club do a halloween dance, but, as previously stated, they plan activities year round to benefit all life skills students throughout KOHS.
“We plan many things year round,” junior President Selena Canello stated, “and sometimes we travel to other school districts as well.”
The moral values of the Best Friends club are very nice.
“We love to do this. These kids deserve as much as any other person here at KO,” Canello said.
That statement is most truthful. These students had a Boo!-tiful time dancing the day away.
