ISIS Strikes Paris, Says U.S. is Next
The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is a terrorist group that strikes fear into world leaders by attacking several nations around the world. In 2004, the group began with al-Qaeda and leader Osama bin Laden. Not until 2014 did ISIS brand themselves by breaking away from al-Qaeda and proving to be more brutal at seizing land. Most recently, ISIS targeted and attacked Paris, France attempting to send a strong message around the globe.
On November 13, 2015, several attacks, including shootings, bombings, and hostage taking, occurred in France’s capital. Three teams of ISIS launched six attacks throughout this remarkable city. It all started outside of Strade de France during a big soccer game with France's president, Francois Hollande, attending the match. One was fan was turned away after suspicion took place that he had a rigged vest on. Seconds later, he detonated, killing both himself and a bystander. This boom was heard inside the stadium causing lots of panic. Stadium officials were told to keep all people inside the stadium, as two other bombers were quickly spotted outside, awaiting the frenzy of chaotic fans. Eventually, the two bombers detonated, but no casualties resulted. A couple minutes later, several shooting occurred outside popular restaurants. Several different terrorists emerged and shot randomly at people on the streets and in the cafes, killing 39 and majorly injuring many more. By the end, 130 people were left dead as a result of this tragic day.
A few days after this incident, President Hollande declared that he would “destroy ISIS” for the trouble they've been causing around the world. As for the rest of the world, they plan to put an end to ISIS as well. A few days after the Paris attacks, ISIS threatened to attack the Washington D.C. in the United States. President Barack Obama spoke about this in a conference on Tuesday (November 24). “We cannot stop our lives and live in fear. That is how terrorists win.” Obama stated. Although he has order for high security in major cities (including New York and Pittsburgh), he does not want America to live in fear. As for the rest of the world, they all want to put ISIS to an end and be able live safely.
We all want the world in peace and putting a stop to ISIS will be a good start. Leaders of every nation are working together to stop the terror these people are putting on the world. We should remember the lives of those lost in Paris, but we, the rest of the people throughout the globe, need to move forward without fear. That is how everyday people in the world can defeat ISIS.
