Keystone Oaks School District News Article

Let's give back!

Keystone Oaks High school has many different clubs for students of all sorts, but one student realized the school was missing something. Jeramie Welch, Junior at Keystone Oaks High school decided that the school was missing one of the biggest and oldest organizations for high school students, The Key Club.
The Key Club is an organization led by students that have a goal to encourage leaders by serving others.
”The Key Club is an international organization that is bigger than NHS that focuses on community service, some examples of things we would do is go out and tutor elementary school kids and build a school mural,” said Welch.
The club would go out to Dormont, Greentree, and Castle Shannon and give back to the community.
“I was thinking about what we had to offer for clubs and what we were missing and I realized we were missing that community service aspect to our club,” said Welch. “All the clubs do a little community service, but there's no club that goes out and helps put up Octoberfest and things like that.”
The Key Club was recently approved by Principal Jason Kushak. Heather Scanlon, Coordinator of Community Service & Career Readiness, will be The Key Club’s sponsor.
“Currently, there are 50 students interested in joining, so I think this will have a very good outcome,” said Welch
If you're interested in joining Key Club see either Jeramie Welch or Mrs. Heather Scanlon for more details.
