Keystone Oaks Announces New Principals at Keystone Oaks High School, Fred L. Aiken Elementary
The Keystone Oaks Board of School Directors approved the hiring of Jason Kushak as High School Principal and Dave Thomas as Aiken Elementary Principal at their monthly Business/Legislative Meeting on June 27, 2017.
Mr. Kushak has worked as the High School Principal at Brownsville Area High School since 2013. He earned his M.S. in Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Before working at Brownsville, Mr. Kushak was a principal in the Forest Area School District and was an elementary computer science teacher in the Uniontown School District.
Throughout his career as an administrator, he has developed a 1:1 Chromebook initiative, integrated an entrepreneurship program into the high school curriculum, and worked with counselors to increase the number of students receiving scholarships and developing post-secondary plans.
Mr. Dave Thomas is currently the Assistant Middle School/High School Principal at Avonworth School District, a position he was appointed to in February. Prior to becoming a principal, he spent nine years as a fourth grade teacher in the same school district. Thomas earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh and also completed Robert Morris University’s RMU-LEAD Principal Certification Program.
During his time as an administrator, Mr. Thomas has also been instrumental in rolling out a 1:1 Chromebook program and has also worked as a team member with the Student Assistance Program. During his tenure as a teacher, Mr. Thomas served on the district’s strategic planning and technology committees.
“We are excited to welcome these two professionals as principals and members of the administrative team at Keystone Oaks School District,” said Dr. William Stropkaj, Superintendent. “We look forward to their leadership and guidance as we continue to improve and enhance programs and services for the students of Keystone Oaks School District.”
