Principal Mr. Scott Mizikar Welcomes Students & Families to Myrtle Avenue Elementary School
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Classes will begin on Monday, August 24, for the 2017 - 2018 school year. Please make sure that your child goes directly to their homeroom after being admitted the first day. Plenty of school personnel will be available to make the day a successful one for your child. Please take every opportunity to visit Myrtle Avenue Elementary on the dates listed at the bottom of this letter.
The first bus is scheduled to arrive at Myrtle this year at 8:10 a.m. Students are not permitted in the building until the first bus arrives. Please note the starting and dismissal times at Myrtle. Starting time is 8:35 a.m., dismissal time is at 3:25 p.m.
Bus students should not arrive at their stops until five minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. This procedure can alleviate a lot of neighborhood problems. Lunch periods begin at 11:30 with classes resuming at 12:40. The dismissal time will be 3:25 p.m. It is imperative that your child be in his/her classroom no later than 8:35 a.m. or they will be counted tardy.
The school district will continue to operate a hot lunch and breakfast program in all of the elementary schools. Any student qualifying for free or reduced price meals (40¢) last year will continue to qualify up until October 1, 2017. At that time if a new approval application is not on file, your child’s name will be removed from the list. Your child will receive a free or reduced price meal on the first day of school providing you qualified last year.
