Keystone Oaks shows improvements on Future Ready Index for 2018-2019 academic year

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has released the 2019 Future Ready Index, reflecting data from the 2018-2019 academic year. Now in its second year, the Future Ready Index is an online tool that features a collection of indicators that illustrate academic proficiency, on-track progress, and college and career readiness.

The Keystone Oaks School District saw improvements in several areas on achievement and growth on English/Language Arts, Math, and Science/Biology Exams.
 
  • At Aiken Elementary School, 80% of students met or exceeded the growth expectation on the English/Language Arts PSSA, 77% of students met or exceeded the growth expectations on the Math PSSA, and 75% of students met or exceeded growth on the Science PSSA. 
  • At Dormont Elementary School, 71% of students met or exceeded the growth expectations on the Math PSSA and 100% of students met or exceeded the growth expectations on the Science PSSA. 
  • At Myrtle Elementary School, 75% of students met or exceeded the growth expectation on the English/Language Arts PSSA, 82% of students met or exceeded the growth expectation on the Math PSSA, and 100% of students met or exceeded the growth expectations on the Science PSSA. 
  • At Keystone Oaks Middle School, 71% of students scored proficient or advanced on the English/Language Arts PSSA and 86.5% of students met or exceeded the growth expectation on the Math PSSA.  
  • At Keystone Oaks HIgh School, 83% of students met or exceeded the growth expectation on the Keystone Literature Exam, 100% of students met or exceeded the growth expectations on the Keystone Algebra Exam and 92% of students met or exceeded the growth expectation on the Keystone Biology Exam. 

“The investments that we have made in the past few years to provide professional development for our teachers and to make adjustments to our curriculum and course offerings is having a positive impact on student achievement,” said Dr. William Stropkaj, Superintendent. “While we know that test scores are only one aspect of preparing students for future success, I am proud of the work that our teachers and administrators have done to better prepare Keystone Oaks students for future success.”
