Effective Monday, March 23, the basketball courts and track at the Middle/High School campus, and the playgrounds at the elementary schools are closed to the public until further notice. We understand that staying at home and not seeing friends and neighbors is difficult, especially as the weather has started to break. However, we have to do everything we can to discourage groups of people from congregating.
If we see a group of people congregating at one of the schools, they will be asked to leave. However, please know that we do not have the capacity to monitor schools grounds at all times of the day. We also cannot ask our local police departments to regularly monitor group sizes on school grounds as they have much more important work to do at this time.
In their March 22 update, Allegheny County offered this insight -
"The most important thing you can do to help stop the spread [of COVID-19] is to stay home and practice social distancing. What the community is doing today has an impact next week and the week after that, so please stay on target. Stay home and continue social distancing."
The more we following the recommendations and guidelines set forth by Governor Tom Wolf and the PA Department of Health, the sooner we can get back to our regular routines.
