Will the Eagles soar this year?
It’s that time of the year again, when the leaves turn beautiful colors and the air is crisp. Also, The Golden Eagles begin their season. That's right, it’s fall! With the change of the weather comes a sport that most people are all over. Every man's’ obsession and what some women dread, football.
When one thinks of High School football, you think hot chocolate, cold nights and cheering on your favorite team. If you’re a Keystone Oaks student you will be cheering on The Golden Eagles every Friday night. The players have been conditioning all summer long and completed football camp.
“We go into every season with a goal of making the playoffs so that is our focus," stated Head Coach, Greg Perry, who has high hopes for the team's upcoming season.
Even though the high school team has had it's downs in the past years, this year they are coming back stronger than ever.
"The offensive and defensive lines are definitely our strong points," Perry said.
Hopefully Coach Perry is right about this one.
Senior leadership this year comes from Keynon Griffiths, Joseph Kazalas, Zayne Jastrzebski, Daniel Reilly and Leo Palmer.
Palmer, who has played for 11 years and counting, plays tightened for The Golden Eagles. He is passionate about football.
"This game has been apart of my life for as long as I can remember, and when you have been doing something you love this much for so long, it's almost impossible to let it go."
The players are eager to get on the field and bring down their competitors. Out of the teams this season South Fayette and Steel Valley are the top two teams in the conference.
To kick off the season, the offensive and defensive lines were put to the test on September 4th at Apollo Ridge. Unfortunately The Golden Eagles lost 37-34. They can redeem themselves on September 11th against South Fayette at home.
