Goodbye KO, hello real world

June 9th -the fateful day for this year’s graduating class. A highly anticipated day full of smiles, laughter, tears, and congratulations as KO seniors end this chapter of their lives and prepare to embark on the next. Whether they are going off to college, joining the military, or diving straight into the work field, each student looks on with bright eyes, a head full of memories, and a heart full of hope for their future.
There is a large array of seniors planning to attend a college or university in the fall, which constitutes an even larger amount of majors that are being pursued. Mackenzie Marino, for instance, is preparing for the start of her journey at Westminster as a microbiology major. Similarly, Bhawana Chetri intends on taking the scientific field by storm as she is planning to attend Point Park in the efforts to become a future doctor. Meanwhile, other fields are being represented by students like Naomi Fanelli, who plans on majoring in International Relations.
Many students from this year’s senior class, such as Fanelli, Geeta Acharya, and Kaylea Chrisman, are also traveling quite a bit for their education. Acharya plans to attend Emory University in Georgia, Chrisman intends to go to Hofstra University in New York, and Fanelli is attending Eckerd College in Florida. Universities are not the only things causing such traveling, though, as other students intending to joining the military will most likely find themselves in various parts of the nation.
Each student, no matter what path they are choosing, appears to be excited and, as Acharya put into words, thinking “I am the most excited student here to graduate.” Indeed, though these years should not be taken for granted, there comes a point when every senior gets hit with an inevitable case of “senioritis,” and simply want to move on with their life. Whether it be college, the military, or the workforce that awaits students in the future, each one appears to be a bundle of excitement and anticipation for their next step in life.
